The Key Minerals in an EV Battery

Electric vehicles are typically 50% heavier than internal combustion engine vehicles, due to their batteries, which make up 60%-75% of their weight. The mineral responsible for the largest portion of that weight (28%) is graphite. Graphene–essentially a highly refined form of graphite, with superior durability and electrical conductivity–is poised to become an important component of existing and (especially) emerging solid state battery architectures.
